What personal belongings do you hold most dear?
My mind containers. I guess those are the personal belongings I hold most dear.
Mind containers I mean here could be anything where I can safely store the contents of my mind. They can be in form of diaries, a listening ear, a recorder, a blog, or something else.
Well, my mind itself is a container. Container of my thoughts, concepts, memories, images, ideas and many other things I have experienced and encountered.
Looking through my mind, I can say that it is such a loud and crowded place, and sometimes it doesn’t stay calm until I store its contents somewhere else…
That’s why since I was a kid, I’d like to write my thoughts in diaries. I can’t remember how many diaries I had, because I kept lots of them. I used to write about my days, that guy I admired, my mood swings, my ideas about life and love, and so many more.
Up until now, I am still storing the contents of my mind in different places. Sometimes when my baby sleeps early, I write my thoughts in a diary. Some other times, when my husband is not busy, we love to talk for hours about life, kids, dream, and anything else. When my life is so occupied with responsibilities, I’d like to turn on my recorder and speak to my recorder while washing my dishes or taking care of my baby. It is kinda weird but I feel at ease every time I am able to articulate what’s inside my mind and store them somewhere.
Why do I love to store the contents of my mind? Because I believe life is full of ups and down, and to look back at those memories, thoughts, ideas or even rants keeps me grateful and at peace. It also deepens my self-discovery.
Talking about changing the world into a better place, I might not have enough power to stop the war, or to change climate, but by understanding myself better I can be able to understand those around me, and know how to treat them better.
